American Veterans For Equal Rights (AVER) and Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA) along with members of the NYC Veterans Alliance and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America marched together in Pride on a very long hot day in June. The reward came as four million spectators shouted, "Thank you for serving!" as we marched down Fifth Avenue. Some of our Vietnam vets had waited over 50 years to hear those words.
