Essay: Matches
Its
an old American tradition; our young return home from
serving our country and marry their sweethearts.
Those wedding photos have been a staple of local
newspapers since the days when "hatches, matches,
and dispatches" was a Sunday feature
section. But, until very recently, gay and
lesbian service members, returning home in pride, have
not had that right and had to wait, for years and even
decades, until now. In recent months we've
gotten so many wedding announcements we decided to
share a few choice matches.
